I am a freelance writer and editor with a passion for mountain environments. I’ve published essays, book reviews, author interviews, and articles in a range of magazines and journals, including Science, Nature, Longreads, Flyway Journal, Electric Literature, and others. I trained as an environmental scientist and held a tenured position in physical geography before a life-changing illness forced me to leave my career and return to my writing and editing roots.
I am a member of the Creative Nonfiction Collective Society and the Federation of BC Writers, and a Fellow of the Royal Canadian Geographical Society. I was a co-founder of the Canadian science blogging network Science Borealis. I write about books, the outdoors, mental health, and nature writing on my blog.
I currently live on southern Vancouver Island, the traditional unceded territory of the Quwut’sun people, with my husband and dog. I try to escape to the mountains to feed the soul whenever I can.
